Description:Chugach Electric Association, Inc., Alaska largest eletric utility is currently recruiting for an Instrument and Controls Technician at our Beluga Power Plant.

The I&C Tech maintains, calibrates, troubleshoots, and repairs instrumentation and control systems for gas and steam turbines, boilers and plant auxiliary systems. It also maintains power plant calibration records and writes technical reports.

This position works 12-hour shifts, 7 days on and 7 days off at Chugach's Beluga Power Plant, which is located on the west side of Cook Inlet near Tyonek.

This position is subject to the terms and conditions of the Generation Plant Personnel Agreement between Chugach Electric and the IBEW, Local 1547.

Duties:Maintains, calibrates, troubleshoots, and repairs:
  • Gas turbine controls
  • Steam Plant and boiler controls
  • Water chemistry analysis
  • Micro and mini computers and programmable controllers
  • Pneumatic instrumentation associated with process control
  • Vibration sensors and analysers
  • T/C, RTD, etc. temperature systems measurement and control
  • Fluid and gas flow measurement and control
  • Pressure measurement and control
  • Level measurement and control


  • Maintain power plant calibration records and write technical reports

    Interface closely with plant engineers and electricians, vendors, and other maintenance personnel.

    Qualifications:Four years experience as a Journeyman I&C Technician required working with state of the art pneumatic and electronic control systems.

    Ability to read and interpret correctly wiring diagrams, pneumatic and hydraulic loop schematics and electronic schematics.

    Able to perform normal I&C duties with minimal supervision.

    Able to perform new systems start up and acceptance tests.
